My vision for all Creighton neighborhoods is celebrating
Real, Significant, Academic Achievement
Real Academic Achievement
Our students enter Creighton schools at different academic levels, each with varying degrees of English language proficiency. Real academic achievement means honoring academic growth. We should emphasize and celebrate each student’s academic progress, pushing every student to her/his maximum potential. Real academic achievement also means pursuing excellence in multiple disciplines, not just those with high-stakes testing. Real academic achievement is possible.
Significant Academic Achievement
My definition of significant academic growth is accelerated development. Many of our young children enter Creighton schools already behind academically and linguistically. We must work urgently, diligently, and purposefully to bring all students up to and above grade-level. We must focus on quality instruction, provide professional teacher development, and enforce comprehensive accountability. Our benchmarks for progress must be reconsidered, with annual growth greater than conventional standards.
Real, Significant, Academic Achievement
We must be tenacious in our pursuit of real, significant, academic achievement. If we do not change our culture regarding public education, our children will perpetually remain behind. When we implement the principles above, and invest parents and neighbors in our schools, our children will reach the workforce educated, motivated, and prepared to compete in the 21st Century global economy. Creighton communities, schools, students, and families must work together to accomplish real, significant, academic achievement and earn Arizona Exceeding labels.
